The Los Alamitos Unified School District Educational Foundation is an independent non-profit organization with the purpose of providing fundraising for the District that would otherwise be unavailable. The Educational Foundation, in conjunction with the District and Board of Education, will determine specific needs that will support the District. The Educational Foundation will provide support for the mutually agreed upon projects so that the District can maintain a high level of excellence.
The Educational Foundation began in the 80’s under then Superintendent Mike Miller. He brought together the community, District and Board of Education in order to build the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Los Alamitos High School.
In the early 90’s, the Educational Foundation undertook the task of passing the Measure K Bond. It was a collaborative effort which successfully garnered the 2/3 vote in the community needed to obtain 12 million dollars for district wide modernization.
The mid 90’s brought about the District Wide Technology Plan whereby the Foundation successfully raised one half million dollars, secured matching funds and was awarded grants.
By 2005, efforts began to provide Technology funding at the high school. $300,000 was raised and ongoing funds from incoming freshmen continue to drive this fund.
The leadership and support for the Educational Foundation has clearly been fantastic over the past two decades.
We follow in the footsteps of our predecessors in asking for your continued support to keep this invaluable asset within the community moving forward and providing tremendous support for all students for the next generations.
