Our Current Projects

"Today’s children and teens spend about 2.75 hours a week using home computers. Since our students already know how to use this technology, why don’t we use it to teach?"

— Institute for Social Research, 2004

"70% of our nation’s 4-6 year olds have used a computer."

— Kaiser Family Foundation, 2003

Projects at the Foundation

Los Al High School Alumni Directory

Another exciting project is the Los Al High School Alumni Directory. The Ed Foundation has partnered with Harris Direct to create the Directory. All classes up to and including the class of 2008 will be listed. While obtaining records from old computers and messy paperwork up to 40 years old has presented its challenges, we are well on our way to getting this tremendous asset up and running. The directory is schedule for release in January of 2009. We believe this will be an excellent way to help keep alumni involved in their school and the district.

Technology Use Plan

A Technology Use Plan was implemented to guide our District from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010 and will provide an integrated technology program to empower students to function effectively in the information age. This plan is dedicated to providing the educational community with equal access in all school classrooms and the training and support needed to utilize it and achieve academic excellence.

Three-Year Technology Use Plan

Every School Site will have the Technology needed so our students and teachers can get the most out of the current and future curriculum.

A current District wide need is to upgrade technology in grades K-12 in order to meet the demands of a technology-dependent curriculum.

LAUSD has developed a three-year Technology Use Plan (TUP) that includes new infrastructure, such as wiring and internet access, new communication systems, and upgraded current hardware and software, including computers, smart boards, and LCD projectors.

LAUSD has achieved greatness over the years and is renowned for its quality of education, staff and community support.

The LAUSD Educational Foundation is committed to attaining an even higher level of education through technology.

Our goal is to provide the entire district with technological advances for every child at every school in order to learn at the highest possible level.

They will learn using the tools of their generation. Technology opens doors to new ideas and experiences and reinforces the basics of education.

Students of tomorrow can learn more, faster and better than ever before given the proper technology. Your participation will provide the necessary resources to achieve that goal.

Implementation of Smart Boards in classrooms has:

  • Increased student engagement
  • Illuminated young minds
  • Improved overall student learning
